The Case Against Apple

It has been 8 years since Steve Jobs died. Steve was not exactly a pleasure to work for. But he paid exquisite attention to the smallest details, put customers first, was a product guy and an innovator. And although wealthy, he wasn’t all that motivated by money. For years it was said, he had very little furniture in his Palo Alto home. Slept on a mattress on the. floor

And now we have Tim Cook. Seems like a nice enough guy. I hear he was a superb supply side manager. No question he is smart. But while the products are still great, Apple the company is, in my opinion, getting steadily stupider under Cook’s leadership. And his constituency is Wall Street. He sure isn’t a product guy. And he seems to accept the institutional stupidity.

Take Apple Maps. I discovered the pin for a park in my city was not in the correct place. Apple gave me the opportunity to drag the pin to the correct place on the map. Except the map was a satellite map. No other choice.
