Is there any hope it will go away? Is there any treatment?

I got it earlier this year at age 71 on my lfet. I had my hearing tested and my high frequency hearing has degraded over the years.

Maybe since my brain cannot detect high frequencies, my brain turns up the volume and amplifies ambient and room noise to compensate?

The audiologist says I need hearing aides and I have been avoiding getting them because of the cost and how they look, even the smallest ones. They all have that plastic case riding on the back of the ear, even as the tubing and in ear portion has been very miniturized.

I am trying to avoid signs of aging at least for a while longer. I can often tune out the noise, but if I let my attnetion drift at all, there it is loud and annoying.
