I don’t think anything in this article will pursuade or convince someone who has been brainwashed to change their beliefs.

Trump supporters are part of a cult. They have been bombarded with pure propaganda by Fox and other right wing media that try to pass off lies and half truths as facts. Their brains have been programmed and for them to change their minds requires way more than any technique in this article.

They must be de-programmed. But that is a whole different topic.

Until they are personally and negatively affected by Trump’s policies they are die hard converts to the cult.

Even severe personal financial losses often won’t be enough to get them to turn on their “leader” who has convinced them their personal suffering is necessary for the “cause”. They believe they must lose the battle to win the war against ideas they don’t fully understand.

One only needs to look at Jonestown, the Branch Davidians, Scientology, the Rev. Sun Mung Moon or Hitler as examples of cults whose grip on their followers is beyond pursuasion. Sometimes the mind control is so strong that followers will choose mass suicide over changing their minds.

It is a great article if you’re on a jury, a committee at work or running for office and trying to pursuade others to support your agenda or point of view.

But it is totally useless for people in cults.
