I am 73. Trump’s election in 2016 and losing my low paying job in 2017 sealed the deal. I left in April 2018.

I do not say where I went because I discovered very early there are a lot of Trumpanzees living here and the fewer Americans that move here the better.

I did not take my Social Security Pension until age 70. At 72.5 I have to start taking minimum annual withdrawals from my 401(k) that I didn’t start until age 40. While the money is taxable, I don’t need to spend it and it remains invested in a taxable account.

I still vote in US elections. My bank and investment accounts are in the US. I qualified for a retirement visa easily and just received residency. I can be outside my new country up to two years without losing my residency.

I visited Berlin and Auschwitz in 2019. 350,000 Jews and other undesirables did leave Germany in 1932 and 1933 as Hitler came to power. Hitler revoked the citizenship of Jews and other undesirables and without passports, they were trapped. There was nowhere to go.
