I agree with your perspective. I have been single for 9 years.

I just finished traveling solo in Europe for two months staying in hostels with 20 and 30 somethings. I am happy being single and far from lonely, having more friends in Europe than America.

But why do so many articles dealing with being single dance around the subject of SEX?

We assume that couples have sex. But I guess the last shame of being single is talking about how to meet one’s sexual needs outside of a committed relationship.

Is it different for men than women? Does menopause destroy female libido? There aren’t many comments here from men.

Not a word of advice on sexuality while single in your otherwise excellent essay.
