In my long career, I have observed that every company reflects the values and competence of the CEO. Even employees far down the chain of command, who may have never even met the CEO, reflect the CEO. Right down the guard at the front desk.
While I have never met Travis, I know people who have, and the universal opinion seems to be he’s a total ass. All his good ideas and aggressive (and often illegal) behavior might have been useful to grow the company to its present state. But it is abundantly clear that Travis is the wrong person to be driving the train.
As investors, I would think you’d be concerned with the absolute possibility of Uber never going public and actually failing. The world is littered with first to market successes that didn’t last.
