America is certainly not innocent.

Bush I and Cheney were guilty of war crimes against Iraq and were never prosecuted.

The CIA was guilty of the torture of prisoners in Abu Grabb, and Guantanimo. Never prosecuted.

Slavery and racism are two stains on America. Racism is still a huge problem. You saw it last week in how the GOP treated KBJ in the hearings for her nomination to the Supreme Court.

I lived through the Vietnam War and protested against it. And America did send Lt. Calley and others to prison for killing innocent civilians. But no one was punished for carpet bombing the countryside and dropping firebombs on villages. General Westmoreland lied about the war in Vietnam and should have been prosecuted for war crimes.

I saw the pictures of the little girl, running naked through the street, burned by napalm. America dropped that chemical on villages and also used defoliants to make destroy the jungle and the rice crops.

Vietnam was an unjust war and we never should have been there. The whole domino theory was a crock. The Vietnamese hated the Chinese as much as they hated the French and the U.S.

Vietnam was like Ukraine, they wanted their own country controlled by their own people. Sure, it is a Communist country, meaning there is only one party in elections. But they have a very good helping capitalism too.

But the reason we know about these crimes is due to our free press.

Sadly, prosecuting the rich and powerful is always a problem. Trump and his criminal family should have been tried and imprisoned already.

Umair writes daily about the failings of America and its corrupt national government. The U.S. electorate is too misinformed and unexposed to foreign countries to have a clue. There is no left-wing in America. There are Democrats, center-right, and controlled by the rich and corporate donors.

And there is the far-right Republican party, the party of fascism and authoritarianism which would like to end what little democracy we have left.

But two wrongs don't make a right.
